Product Description

ROOTOPINE-M is a well-balanced antihypertensive combination of Metoprolol Tartrate and Amlodipine, formulated for the effective management of hypertension, angina pectoris, and cardiovascular risk reduction. This combination provides dual blood pressure control by combining the cardioselective beta-blocking action of Metoprolol with the potent vasodilatory effect of Amlodipine, resulting in superior blood pressure reduction and improved cardiovascular protection.

Metoprolol Tartrate is a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker that reduces heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing myocardial oxygen demand. Amlodipine is a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that relaxes vascular smooth muscle, reduces peripheral vascular resistance, and improves coronary blood flow.

ROOTOPINE-M is particularly beneficial in patients with hypertension associated with tachycardia, angina, coronary artery disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and high cardiovascular risk. The combination helps achieve better blood pressure control while reducing the workload on the heart and improving exercise tolerance in patients with angina.

Technical Knowledge of Metoprolol Tartrate and Amlodipine

Metoprolol selectively blocks beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart, reducing sympathetic stimulation, heart rate, myocardial contractility, and renin release from the kidneys. This leads to a reduction in cardiac output and blood pressure.

Amlodipine inhibits L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, causing peripheral arterial vasodilation, reduced systemic vascular resistance, and decreased afterload. It also improves coronary artery perfusion and helps prevent coronary vasospasm.

The combination of Metoprolol and Amlodipine provides complementary antihypertensive mechanisms, improving blood pressure control while minimizing reflex tachycardia and enhancing cardiovascular protection.

Mechanism of Action

Metoprolol reduces heart rate, decreases myocardial contractility, lowers cardiac output, suppresses renin release, and reduces myocardial oxygen demand.

Amlodipine relaxes vascular smooth muscle, reduces peripheral vascular resistance, lowers afterload, improves coronary blood flow, and provides sustained blood pressure control.

Key Benefits

Clinical Applications

ROOTOPINE-M is commonly prescribed for essential hypertension, hypertension with tachycardia, chronic stable angina, coronary artery disease, hypertension with diabetes, hypertension with metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular risk reduction, and patients requiring combination antihypertensive therapy.

Facts About Metoprolol Tartrate and Amlodipine

Metoprolol is one of the most extensively used cardioselective beta-blockers for hypertension and ischemic heart disease. Amlodipine is a long-acting calcium channel blocker with excellent antihypertensive efficacy and once-daily blood pressure control. The combination is widely used for patients requiring both heart rate control and effective peripheral vasodilation.
